Immune Boosting Herbs to Grow at Home

Nature is empowering. One gust of wind can change your direction in an instant, and just one glimpse of a wonder of the world can change your perspective forever.  Nature is powerful, healing, and dangerous all at the same time. It’s with nature that we find the most connection to our inner self. We rely on nature to nourish us, from immune boosting remedies to feeling free in the most breathtaking places.

The benefits of fresh ingredients to your diet are endless. As an adult, you work hard, and for that, you deserve the best in nutrition. Herbs play a significant role in health and well-being. They not only are nutritious to our diets, but they offer sensory and healing benefits as well.

You can use herbs for a plethora of reasons. Herbs are healing, relaxing, therapeutic and taste amazing. Here is a list of easy to grow herbs to start growing now.

Mint is hearty and perfect for potting while growing indoors. There are many different varieties of mint, but the most common are spearmint, peppermint, and chocolate mint. Mint

You can become energetic from the vibrant and refreshing scent of mint.

Mint likes the sun and warmth. Plant in a good sunlit area. Keep mint watered and moist. When the mint is ready to harvest, infuse in your water or immune boosting tea.

Basil

Another thing that makes basil unique is that it contains powerful immune boosting and disease fighting antioxidants as well as the ability to fight off viruses. Basil likes the sun and water. Find a nice sunny windowsill and make sure to water the plant just about everyday. When leaves are ready to harvest, add to your favorite Italian dishes, thai foods, baked goods, hot tea to boost immunity and water.

Parsley is an anti-inflammatory, and if consumed regularly, it can help relieve joint pain. Store parsley in part sun/shade. Be sure to water regularly and keep the soil moist. When ready to harvest, trim the ready pieces from the outside in.

Since parsley is an excellent anti-inflammatory, acting as a fighting agent against allergies, inflammatory diseases, and autoimmune diseases, it’s perfect to have grown at home. Parsley is also perfect for juicing.

Chives

A descendant of the onion family, chives offer the ability to grow just about anywhere with proper sun and water. Chives offer cancer-fighting properties and also boosts heart health. Chives contain some essential vitamins including vitamin A, C, potassium, iron, and calcium. Who knew this thin blade of onion could contain so much?

Chives need at least 6-8 hours of sunlight a day, so choose the sunniest place in or around your home. Also, Chives like a company, put them next to other plants so they can share humidity. Chives do well with humidity so on dry days, spray the area with a little water.

Furthermore, comfrey can be grown indoors, preferably in a five-gallon pot. Comfrey is a bit controversial as it’s not recommended for internal use. However, for external purposes, it provides optimum nutrients for bone health and healing, with the nutrient allantoin. Allantoin acts as an anti-inflammatory and promotes faster healing. You can grow comfrey just about anywhere, but large gallons are the best for indoor, in well sunlit areas with fertile soil.

In conclusion, when you have your mix of herbs growing at home, you take a lot of pressure off in having to purchase them from a grocery store. Just strike the herb you’re growing off the grocery list. Herbs are easy to grow and have an extensive amount of immune boosting benefits. Herbs are also a great start to learning how to grow your own food. With time, patience, determination and practice, you can open the door to more home gardening.
