Important Things You Should Know About Breast Implants

For most women, having the perfect bust size is more about having the right confidence they need to live a lifestyle that is away from the opinions of people. For this precise reason, so many choose to go under the knife and opt for the breast augmentation in Atlanta surgery. However, when women go through development, eventually, they may need to have their implants replaced. There are so many reasons out there, on why a woman may want or need to replace her implants. Aesthetics remains one of the most common and fundamental goals. As we continue to age, the body changes and some women feel their breasts do not appear as natural and youthful as they were once (due to sagging). Hence, women choose to alter the size of their breasts through breast implants that fit the changes in the body.

Some women also choose to go smaller or larger depending on their personal preference. When you consider this surgery, of course, there are many other medical reasons why you may want to find the implant replacement. In some rare cases, saline or silicone implants can leak, and the implants would become noticeably smaller. However, as the ruptured implants do not create visible deflation of the breasts, it may also exhibit a kind of rippled appearance and the need for replacement.

Before the Crispin Plastic Surgery breast implant procedure, here are some essential things you should know.

Implants Can Rupture

Although silicone breast implants come with TGA and FDA approval, you need to be cautious about other things. Breast implants are not devices for a lifetime, meaning they can rupture without any symptoms and signs. It is recommendable to have regular checkups with your surgeon to be sure that the implants remain in the best shape. This can cost you a hundred dollars, but the American Society of Plastic Surgeons advice that you should replace silicone implants every 10 years.

Saline Implants are the Safest

The safest implants are usually saline implants, and this is often indisputable. In saline implants, it is easy to detect ruptures immediately (the implants deflate with the release of the harmless saline fluid) and there are no recommendations for MRI examinations. Also, saline implants have the lowest rate of capsule contracture and women have had their saline implants for more than 20 years without any requirements for replacement.

Implants are placed best behind the Chest Muscle

You should know that it is best to put implants behind the chest muscle. When putting them behind the chest muscle, these acts as an additional coverage for the implants, especially crucial in slim women will little breast tissue. When placed under the muscle, this prevents rippling and enables the mammograms to perform without any interference. The placing of the breast implants under the muscles helps to produce a more natural slope to the breast, and this makes it impossible to tell the difference between the saline implants and silicone when placed behind the muscle.

Removing the Silicone May Not be Possible

When the silicone implants leak, it may not be possible to remove the silicone. Often, this is because the silicone absorbs into the capsule that forms around the breast implants and travels to the axillary lymph nodes. In some cases (capsular contracture), when the implants placed in front of the muscle, it would be possible to do a complete “en-bloc capsulectomy,” usually not the case after placing the implants behind the muscle.

Implants Affect Nipple Sensitivity

You should also know that breast augmentation could affect the sensitivity of the nipples. This is because the nipple enters the breast from beneath the armpit and these nerves could stretch out with the augmentation procedure, especially if the implants are large. This results in a change of the nipple sensation in as much as 10% patients. As the function of the nerves returns there can be hypersensitivity, and although most of the patients do not have altered nipple sensation after the augmentation, in some women the areas of numbness could become permanent.

 Bigger Is Not Always Better

When it comes to breast implants, there is no size limit to the implants determined by the width of your chest. If you decide to choose an implant that is wider than your chest, the chances are more that it will produce under your arm. Also, an excessively large breast implant could cause the skin to stretch, giving the appearance that the nipple sits at a high level.

Choosing the breast implants suitable for your body type often requires you to carry out a complete examination of the critical things that tag along with it first. It is best that you explore more about implants, learn about their features, discuss with your plastic surgeon and choose the most suitable option for the breast augmentation surgery.
