Cramps before period: Are you pregnant?

Some women have cramps before period which can last from one to two weeks, or just a few days. It is due to the regular contractions of the uterus. So, it can be a natural symptom. But sometimes cramps before a period may be a sign of something else, for example, pregnancy.

  1. How do the women feel about cramps before period?

How do the women feel about cramps before period? The answer to this question entirely depends on those who have to suffer that symptom. It means that each different women will get different feelings.

While some are somewhat in luck because of their mild cramps, some have to have a terrible experience. These cramps are so utterly uncomfortable that some females need medications to ease the severe pain.

The main reason that is considered to cause cramps before the period is the regular contractions of the uterus. At this time, the uterus lining releases the chemical which is called “prostaglandin.”

Prostaglandin increases the contractions’ intensity. The more severe your cramps are, the higher prostaglandin levels rise and the more pain you have to suffer.

  1. Cramps before a period may be a sign of pregnancy

Dysmenorrhea is known to be the painful menstruation, typically involving abdominal cramps. It can be said that dysmenorrhea decides when cramps before period occur. It is divided into 2 primary type:

  • Primary: At this level, the pain which often lasts 1 – 3 days before the period starts at the stomach and back. It is the most common form of dysmenorrhea.
  • Secondary: At this level, the pain seems to be stronger, even going with cramps. It can be such severe pain, especially the night before the period that some women have to use painkillers. It appears a few days before a period.

If now were not my period as standard, what would it be? Some women feel somewhat embarrassed when they have slight cramps although her period should not be here yet. It is believed to be caused by implantation which happens when the egg and sperm fertilize. And then, this egg comes to the uterus to which it will attach. This process makes you bleed, or sometimes sudden cramps, but don’t worry, they can fade away quickly.

  1. Do you know about Pregnancy Cramps?

In the process of pregnancy, some expectant mothers feel worried about their scamps because they are scared of the safety of the baby. Not every pregnant woman suffers this symptom which often occurs when you first have a baby. Do not be worried! At this time, mild cramps are alright because they are just signs of the appearance of a baby.

Pregnancy cramping may:

  • Start at the lower area than usual.
  • Be not as painful as usual cramping.
  • Occur on both sides.

This type of cramps before the period is considered that it is unlike menstrual cramps. Pregnant women may have unavoidable pains in lower abdomen. It is because the stretch of the uterus and muscle inside your body to provide enough space for your baby.

Remember you will be more sensitive during this period of pregnancy. At this time, in case of the severe pain or visible blood, it is essential for you to call for a medical professional or go to the hospital to make sure that your baby is safe.

If not, there will be the miscarriage. It causes your physical body many severe pains, even the incapability of having a baby. But the most painful consequence is to your mental health. It is not easy for a mother to accept the truth that her daughter or her son will not exist. So, pay attention to the smallest sign to avoid your unexpected death of the infant.

  1. Some endangered sign of cramps

Unlike normal cramps before period, pregnancy cramps cause many worries to the expectant mother.  Let relax! Your body has to change and adapt to accommodate your baby who will grow gradually inside. It is reasonable, not a cause for concern. It can be said that mild cramps are necessary for this period, but it is not consistent.

But it is not the reason for you to ignore cramps before a period or pregnancy cramps. In some cases, it is really a sign of dangerous things. When?

  • You have to suffer the pain, even severe cramps
  • Instead of going away, cramps are consistent
  • Cramps go with bleeding. It becomes a critical sign when you have any vaginal bleeding. At this time, visit your doctor immediately.

Some women predict their pregnancy by following the cramps before period. But it is not exact in some cases. Implantation might be a cause for cramps, but less than 65% of women have to suffer this pain. So, it can be a specific sign. To be more believable, go to the hospital for a pregnancy test.
