If you have been juicing since long now, you will agree that after a period of time, the juice recipes just get boring. Well, don’t let the lack of new ingredients or combinations dull your love for juices.

Listed here are 8 off-beat ingredients which are sure to pep things up and rekindle your juice love. Most of them are versatile and work great with any kinds of green juices as well as fruit juices. Let’s take a look:

  1. Ginger

This is a powerful ingredient which will add a spicy flavor to your boring green juice. So be careful with the quantity. Concentrated juice of ginger is known to improve digestion and combat the feeling of nausea. It also boosts the immune system and helps reduce inflammation, fights colds and flu besides giving bland juices an amazing taste.

  1. Cinnamon

If you are a fan of healthy juices, you must use this wonder spice. It is packed with qualities which help lower the risk of heart diseases, regulate the blood sugar levels and reduce bad cholesterol. Besides, it just makes everything taste better. A favorite hot combination of many juice lovers nowadays is carrot, almond milk, and cinnamon. Think healthy carrot cake in juice form!

  1. Fresh Turmeric Root

A lot has been written about the many health benefits of turmeric. However, it is mostly known for its potent anti-inflammatory properties. It has a peculiar taste and smells so go easy with its quantity if you are new to it.

Add volume and a mild sweet licorice flavor to your juices with fennel root. The root has a similar texture to celery. The high vitamin C content of this root helps eliminate gas, reduce bloating and also boosts your immune system. Try a combination of watermelon, mint, and fennel for a refreshing treat.

  1. Wheatgrass

Don’t fall for its appearance, because wheatgrass packs a host of benefits such as beta-carotene and vitamins B, C and E which help remove free radicals from your body. Besides, it also acts as a cleanser for the gastrointestinal tract and the circulatory system. If you dislike the taste, try adding a dash of lemon juice or pair it with naturally sweet beets or carrots.

Add a dash of freshness to the juices with some mint. It is soothing on your tummy, is a great appetizer and promotes digestion. Plus, it’s a great taste enhancer. This magic herb works well with both fruits and vegetable juices.

If you want to add a slight tang and lots of vitamin C to your everyday juices, try lemons. They help you battle diseases such as scurvy, act as an anti-inflammatory agent and are an excellent source of folate and potassium. They are also a good addition if your juices are meant for weight loss.

  1. Starfruit

Low in calories and high in fiber, star fruit is a must-add ingredient in your juices. A treat from the Pacific, this amazing fruit has a subtle flavor and lots of moisture to help you remain hydrated. It provides antioxidants, essential nutrients, and vitamins which promote good health.

It should always be kept in mind that storing the juices correctly is important to preserve the nutritional value of the ingredients and the freshness of flavor. Always save the juices in a vacuum sealed bottle. The vacuum slows down the oxidation process considerably. Hence, keeping liquids in such containers lets, you enjoy fresh juice even after hours of making it.
