Skin-Care Recommendations for Middle-Aged Women

When you hit the big 3-0, you might think that you should instantly turn to anti-aging products. However, that doesn’t necessarily have to be true. Aging is inevitable, that’s for sure, but you don’t have to have the perfect genes to have a glowing, youthful skin no matter your age. All you need is a couple of tips that will help you maintain your glow and slow down the aging process the best way possible, and those tips are listed below. Enjoy.

Cleanse

It doesn’t matter whether you are wearing makeup or not, it is crucial to dedicate a few minutes to clean your face thoroughly every day. And try doing it with a creamy cleanser that won’t strip the natural moisture of your skin away. The best time for this is before going to bed; that will wash away all the dirt that was caught during the whole day. And by all means, never, and I mean NEVER, sleep with makeup on.

Boost that collagen

Collagen is a protein that helps your skin maintain its elasticity, which is crucial for youthful and glowing features. However, it is entirely reasonable that your skin gets a little looser over the years, which results in those fine lines. But, there is a way to increase collagen in your skin by using topical vitamin A products. This vitamin normalizes your blood flow, exfoliates, increases the rate of wound healing, reduces symptoms of rosacea, repairs the cellular structure of your epidermis, improves hydration, etc. Talk to your dermatologist about which type you should go with.

Stay hydrated

Begin and end your day with a few glasses of cold, crisp water. Avoid sugary drinks because they will not quench your thirst and will eliminate your body’s needed hydration. Keep a canteen of purified water near you at all times and make sure you are never thirsty, because once you feel the thirst, you are already dehydrated, and that takes a toll on your skin.

SPF is your best friend

Sure, you should start using retinol when you reach your 40s, but SPF is something you should be slathering on every single day of your life, no matter how old you are. Make sure you use at least SPF 30 every day, combined with a stylish hat if you’ll be spending longer than 10 minutes in the sun. Sun is what ages your skin the fastest.

Moisturizer as well

The most important part of your routine (after SPF) is putting a layer of moisturizer on your skin to protect it from environmental damage, prevent moisturize loss and keep those surface cells translucent. It also plumps up all those fine lines and wrinkles, no matter whether it contains anti-aging ingredients or not. However, you shouldn’t just stop at your face, our whole body needs some love. Exfoliate

In addition to cleansing your face thoroughly every night before bed, it is essential to also exfoliate it once a week to slough away all those dry and rough patches that are emphasizing your wrinkles. However, make sure you perform your exfoliation gently and slowly, so your complexion remains nice and shiny and not red and irritated.

Eye cream

The delicate skin around your eyes is the part that gets wrinkled the fastest, so to keep it tight, make sure you apply eye cream religiously. Talk to your dermatologist to find the best cream for your particular skin type, and once you find your match, don’t be lazy and put it on every night.

And that would be it, the last tip I can give you is to make sure you get plenty of beauty sleep every night and allow your body to refresh itself, so your face glows every morning fully. Take care of your body – it is the only place you have to live.
