Hopes, Dreams, and a Vision for the Future

Hopes, Dreams, and a Vision for the Future

Sometimes, I catch myself reflecting on the irony of our existence on this planet. It’s like a bad cosmic joke: a species that—judging by the last two thousand years—has perfected little more than the art of killing itself. At times like these, it’s hard to believe humanity will survive another thirty years on this beautiful planet.

But then a more balanced view comes to mind. Despite our history of violence, we also have extraordinary moments as a species. We’ve given birth to remarkable thinkers—philosophers, scientists, explorers—and we’ve demonstrated incredible compassion, especially during disasters. When tsunamis, earthquakes, and hurricanes strike, people around the world send aid: food, medicine, clothing, clean water. In those moments, I smile again. I feel hope. Maybe, just maybe, we can find our way.

A Personal Awakening

I grew up in a family and community that respected nature. Though I was an omnivore until I was 35, I was always taught to care for the plant and animal kingdoms. That upbringing laid the foundation for a transformation I never expected: adopting a plant-based diet.

Over the last several years, I’ve learned not only how much better I feel on a vegan diet, but also how deeply animal agriculture damages our planet. Most people assume automobiles are the biggest polluters. Few know that one of the top contributors to environmental destruction is animal waste—followed closely by the water, grain, and energy consumed by livestock industries.

Water that could nourish entire ecosystems is being redirected to irrigate animal feed, hydrate the animals, and clean their holding facilities. This isn’t just unsustainable. It’s tragic.

A Life Without Regret

Today, I’m grateful I made the shift to veganism. I walk through life with a clear conscience, knowing I’m no longer contributing to environmental collapse. I hope someday to meet a woman who shares these values—a vegan like me. I want to raise my children on a plant-based lifestyle, one that supports the healing of our planet instead of its destruction.

Currently, there are about 600 million vegans and vegetarians worldwide. My dream, my hope—my vision—is to live long enough to see that number rise to two or three billion. That would be a turning point for humanity.

Why I Write

I created this website and wrote my book, Thirsty for Health, for one reason: to wake people up. I believe many of us live in a kind of sleepwalk, unaware of how our daily choices—especially our dietary choices—harm our bodies and the planet.

Yet every one of us has the power to reverse course.

By embracing a balanced, plant-based diet and living an active lifestyle, we begin to restore our health. And because we are made of the same elements as this planet, when we heal ourselves, we help heal the Earth.

My goal is to help as many people as possible reach the same realization I had three years ago: killing animals for food is unnatural. Picking an apple from a tree—that is natural. That is life-affirming.

A Personal Invitation

Once you adopt a plant-based diet, you’ll begin to notice a shift—not only in your body, but in your spirit and mind. Your clarity will improve. Your goals will sharpen. You will have the energy and focus to fulfill your purpose on this planet.

I hope this article has encouraged you to reconsider your path.

Let me share a memory: when I told a vegan friend of mine that I had decided to make the change, he smiled and said, “Yes, join us.”

So now I say the same to you:
Join us.
Join us in healing the Earth.
Join us in protecting your health.
Join us in saving the future—for humans, for animals, for the planet itself.
